Silhouetted against the evening sky
That was rapidly changing shades;
From vivid yellow to
Shades of grey,
He sat.
In his hand he held balloons
Fitted with twinkling lights;
Lights that blinked;
Sometimes slow,
Sometimes rapid,
Evidently to soar
A child’s spirit.
The balloon seller boy
Gaped at the balloons with pride
and admiration.
The twinkling lights of the balloons
that he held in his hand,
were like the stars that
he always wanted to reach for!

Thank you so much. l am thrilled to know that you enjoyed reading this. It’s a special poem for me too because I used to watch this boy sitting at a roadside corner for many days. Somehow he always seemed to exude a positivity which never failed to fascinate me. 😊
