Is this what can be a home? A rocky bed In the midst of a sea? Beneath the open sky Exposed to nature's elements Can humans truly survive? Why have we humans For centuries strived To shield us From this openness? Why have we tried to cover us From nature's elements? Building stronger barricades Erecting defences against nature's forces Trying to fight nature as an adversary? Would it not be possible To make peace with nature now? Let ourselves free Into nature's care And see if nature nurtures us? Bestows its warmth, love, happines and protection Like a loving mother?

This is beautiful and thought provoking. We are not adversaries of Nature but an intricate part of it. But, Nature is pragmatic and neither kind nor cruel in her pursuits. Don’t we assign those human traits to ‘her’ at our peril? I wonder. Thank you for this piece.

Am so glad that you liked this. You have summarised it wonderfully well. We do tend to sometimes go overboard and assign traits at our own peril. Thank you for your words of appreciation. šš

I love this, Goutam. We are part of nature and if we show our respect then we will gain respect.
