It's been a year now since grandma left us. Surrounded by her son, daughter in law and her grandsons, she folded her hands to acknowledge everyone and then, she was gone. Amidst the hectic activity that followed for a few days thereafter, I was largely ignored. There were guests who came in to meet my master, speaking in muted voices, with sombre look on their faces. Grandma never showed her affection for me overtly. Neither did she ever expressed her annoyance at me. Even when I had chewed on her chappals at a young age, she had gently rebuked me in a voice that seemed to convey that she had been more amused than angry. During cold winter nights, she would drape me in one of her sweaters before shuffling back to her room and go to sleep. This winter, they are giving away her warm clothes to the lady who comes to work. I have managed to sneak away with her sweater. Hope they let me keep it. Cold winter… Providing comfort Your fragrance

This is extremely touching. The Haiku at the end makes it all the more poignant. So so beautiful! Such a heartwarming story.
