Come! Let’s go! Leaving the keys on the door. Leaving the gadgets dead and cold. Leaving the sun rays to come in Through the open curtains And stroll; Filling the niches And the darkness Hiding in corners. Come! Let’s go! There.. Where awaits a slice of happiness. Where nature awaits To take us in its embrace. Where life thrives On warm smiles. Where time stops, Staring, as if hypnotised. Where the gurgling brook Talks softly through the night. Where the twinkling stars Make for a bewitching sight. Come! Let’s go! Leave the chores and let us go. To explore, let us go. To make memories, let us go. Let’s go….

I love your poem Goutam. An invitation to explore the beauties of nature from an urban setting. Wonderfully done my friend.

Thank you Sadje. So glad that you like it. Its been quite a while since I had a holiday. So the mind keeps wandering. Planning to go on a bike tour to the hills of North East of our country. All that was playing on my mind when I wrote the poem.. Thank you once again for the lovely picture, which I interpreted as going off on a holiday. 😊

Oh, wonderful! Love the idea of leaving everything behind to be one with nature.

Thank you Punam..Glad that you enjoyed it. I feel this sometimes these days….similar to the banprastha concept followed by hpuseholders in earlier days. Give away everything and go off..😊

You are welcome. Yes, that urge can be very strong at times and then reality sets in. 😊

What a splendid invitation – just drop everything and go! The repetitions work well, and my favourite lines: ‘Where life thrives / On warm smiles.’ Good one, Goutam!

Thank you so much. Which place did you go to btw? My initial years of work life had been spent in a chromite mine, 50 Kms from Jajpur Keonjhar road station. Besides have stayed in remote places like Joda and Noamundi. These places, though being mined for resources, often leading to destruction of nature, were rich in natural beauty and an absolute pleasure to connect with nature. 🙂

OMG Gautam..so good to know that you have lived/ worked in Odisha! This is awesome. Well yes I had stayed overnight in a jungle rest house in Satkosia where the magnificent Mahanadi flows in between hills on both sides.
Here the stars sparkled in the clear night sky just like in your poem :))
