Lord Hanuman, as a child, did something scary. One day, when feeling incredibly hungry, He leapt at the rising sun, Thinking it was an apple; a juicy one. Gosh! Is that real, or just a story? There is a story about Lord Hanuman, a monkey with supernatural powers and worshipped by us Hindus as a God. Hanuman happens to be the son of "Vayu" the God of air. The story goes that once, as a child, he was feeling very hungry and had leapt towards the rising sun, thinking it to be a red apple. On seeing this, another God-Indra, came in between and pushed him down. Hanuman fell to the ground and was very hurt. This enraged Vayu and he stopped blowing. The world then went into a tizzy and every living being began to gasp and choke. Seeing this, all the other Gods, led by Indra, rushed to Vayu and placated him by blessing Hanuman and giving him powers befitting the mightiest of the Gods. This limerick is about the great Monkey God! π
